[Sheflug] LiLo and key mappings

I have a query, why when I run lilo does my System.map file get turned into 
unparseable Garbage. It seems a bit odd to me, I'm using the latest modutils 
from woody I think.

I have another internationalisation problem as well. I need to get my laptop UK 
mapped keyboard to produce the wonderful array of German charaters. For this I'd 
like to use the windows application key as a modifier. I managed to do this with 
my desktop at home, but can't get it to play nicely here. I spent an afternoon 
playing with xmodmap and xkeycaps and got no where. Are there any alternative 
tools or does somebody have a magic recipe for them ?
