3rd button from the sun

Hi!
	I've have had to use the 3rd button on my mouse on X today, and
found that it doesn't work. It works fine in the console with gpm, and
it works fine in X with gpm running in the console (that meaning: gpm
isn't interfering with the mouse). This mouse is some sort of
microsoft/mouse man device, and you switch it to mouseman by pressing
any of the buttons at boot time (or something along these lines). But
the middle button works fine under gpm, so obviously, something's wrong
in the X configuration. Here's a copy of /etc/gpm.conf

device=/dev/ttyS0
responsiveness=
repeat_type=ms3
type=ms
append=""

and the relevant bit of XF86Config:

Section "Pointer"
   Protocol        "Microsoft"
   Device          "/dev/mouse"
   BaudRate        1200
   Emulate3Timeout 50
EndSection

	Does anyone have any clues? I'm short of time at present to RTFM
:)
