Well, I've got a bit further with this. The i4L site has a script on
one of the pages which shows what to do with fetchmail and sendmail.
The ISDN ip-up script has a couple of bits commented out that I just
needed to change. This was.....
/usr/sbin/sendmail -q &
/usr/local/bin/kfrfetchmial -a >> /var/log/fetchmail ">&1 &
/bin/su news "fetch" >> /var/log/fetch.log &
So, I've changed that so it should work. The other bit that I
couldn't find was fetchmail configuration. At page 598 of Running
Linux from O'Reilly it says. "Put the following line into your
configuration file" ...........
poll mail.isp.com protocol pop3 username joeuser password
secret.
I've put that into .fetchmailrc with the required values. Still
won't download mail. That's in my home directory. So, I think I
have to change something ?
At least I've made it from complete ignorance to some idea of what
to do :-) Even Pine 4.21 can read my mail inbox but I still haven't
tried to send with Pine due to other mail configuration problems
which I think are to do with sendmail.
Thanks
Richard
