[Sheflug] /dev/mouse wierdness...
Hi all,
Something wierd has happened. My Xserver refuses to start, giving the follow
error under X 3.3.6
Cannot open mouse (not such device)
and something like
 /dev/mouse no such file
under X 4.01a.
ls /dev/mouse finds /dev/mouse - it does exist. I've tried looking at the
/etc/X11/XF86Config files, reinstalling the "dev" rpm and physically swapping
mice out.
 No joy.
I do not recall modifying any X settings before this happened.
I did, however, build and boot to 2.4.0-test10-pre5 - which came up OK, no
errors, and a functioning X system.
After several reboots (I was messing around) things spontaneously died.
I've tried booting 2.4.0-test10-pre3 which I ran for a few weeks with no
hassles, but the same problem arises - I'm assuming that the kernel upgrade is
not the problem.
I am scuppered if I know what the cause is.
Currently my machine is running well as init 3. Unfortunately, I like init 5.
X is good (when I set it up right :-).
 Help, pleeeeeeeeease!
 Baz.
