 Aye, the cable is an RS-232 on both ends, however the pin wirings are a
bit wierd, from what I`ve figured from the HOW-TO`s and what APC have
been saying.

 Oh, pooh. Well, the darned modem is contected to the 1st serial port,
whatever that`s called. The UPS is connected to the second serial port.
